The Consortium
The Regional Hospital of Gjirokaster meets the needs of around 100.000 people in the prefecture of Gjirokaster, in the south of Albania. Overall, there are 10 departments in the hospital (Emergency, Polyclinic, Blood Bank, Lab, MRI Scan, Paediatrics, Cardiology, Urology, Surgery and Gynaecology). On the whole, there are 180 beds in the hospital and 242 people work there (out of which 37 are doctors and 97 are nurses). Students of the “Eqrem Cabej” University majoring in Advanced Nursing attend their practicum classes in the Hospital which takes pride in its consolidated professional, ethical, administrative and medical service and expertise with both patients and their relatives.

The Cardiology department consists of the Cardiology Clinic, which has 29 beds and is able to provide care for more than 1.600 patients per year, the Coronary Unit, which has 7 beds and is able to provide care for more than 700 patients per year, the Regular Cardiology Infirmary, in which more than 3.700 patients from all the regions of Epirus and South-East Albania are examined yearly and Emergency Cardiology Infirmary, in which more than 3.700 patients are examined yearly. The department also has many labs: Contrast Echocardiography, Stress test, Holter, Hemodynamic.
